In Romania there is an undeniable need for psychosocial screening and care of cancer patients but practice, experience, training, and resources in this area are scarce. Cooperation between health care and social care sectors would be imperative for high-quality cancer care. APSCO would like to be a bridge which changes this process by evidence based psychosocial cancer research and common initiatives.

Social work can be one of the most comprehensive support sources by providing psychosocial and practical support to cancer patients, particularly for those of low socio-economic status, living in rural areas and for ethnic minority groups – like Hungarians and Roma. This is the focus of our collaborations.
