Topic: Launch of the EU Joint Declaration on the Employment of People with Chronic Diseases
Prof. Ray Vanholder presented the Framing Paper and the Call to Action. He underlined that “for CVDs, cancer, and diabetes, the employment rate is less than 30%.” The Call to Action was launched and presented today on 27th of November during the meeting of the EU Health Policy Platform in Brussels; and is endorsed by over 24 organisations to date.
The International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) is a contributor and it fully supports this EU Call to Action.
Putting in place these actions will make significant contribution to achieving the sustainable employment component of the Europe 2020 Strategy in particular the objective of “achieving a 75% employment rate for 20–64 year olds throughout the EU”
